Welcome to the City of Ryde's Mayors Youth Summit - Forum!

Come join us at The Incubator, Macquarie University on April 23, 2026 at 9:00 AM for a day filled with engaging discussions, insightful talks, and networking opportunities.

This Forum is a great platform for young leaders to voice their opinions, share ideas, and connect with like-minded individuals. Whether you're passionate about community issues or eager to make a difference, this event is for you! This forum puts young voices front and centre, giving young people the space to challenge norms, influence policy, and connect directly with the leaders shaping their future.

HSIE: Human Society and its Environment

Stage 4 (Years 7–8) CIV4-01 – Describes the roles and responsibilities of citizens in Australian democracy and local communities. Students recognise how young people can participate in community discussions and decision-making. CIV4-02 – Explains how groups and individuals contribute to community wellbeing and social change. Students explore how youth forums encourage participation and collaboration. CIV4-03 – Identifies different perspectives on community issues and discusses them respectfully. Students engage with ideas presented by peers, leaders, and speakers at the forum. CIV4-04 – Describes how local government and community organisations respond to community needs. Students connect discussions at the forum to real-world initiatives in the City of Ryde. Stage 5 (Years 9–10) — HSIE Outcomes CIV5-01 – Analyses the role of young people in civic participation and decision-making within local communities. Students explore how youth voices contribute to shaping policies and community initiatives. CIV5-02 – Evaluates different perspectives on social and community issues. Students engage with diverse opinions shared during discussions and reflect on contrasting viewpoints. CIV5-03 – Investigates how individuals and groups influence change in society. Students examine how forums, advocacy, and collective action can impact local governance. CIV5-04 – Explains the structure and function of local government and its role in community development. Students connect forum discussions to real-world decision-making processes within the City of Ryde. Stage 6 (Years 11–12) — HSIE Outcomes CIV6-01 – Critically analyses the effectiveness of civic engagement strategies used by individuals and groups. Students assess how youth forums and advocacy platforms influence policy and social change. CIV6-02 – Evaluates the relationship between citizens, government, and policy-making processes. Students explore how young people interact with decision-makers and contribute to governance. CIV6-03 – Investigates contemporary social issues and proposes informed responses or solutions. Students develop and articulate ideas addressing issues raised during the forum. CIV6-04 – Demonstrates understanding of active citizenship through participation and reflection. Students reflect on their role as informed, engaged citizens within their community.
