Celebrate creativity and self-expression during Youth Week at this vibrant Tie Dye Workshop.

Designed for young people aged 13 and above, this hands-on session invites participants to explore the colourful art of tie-dyeing, transforming everyday fabric into bold, personalised designs. Using a range of dyeing techniques such as twisting, folding, and binding, participants will learn how to create unique patterns and colour combinations, resulting in wearable pieces that reflect their individuality.

Tie-dye workshops are widely recognised as creative, social, and expressive experiences, where participants can experiment freely with colour and design while developing practical skills. These sessions typically encourage young people to design and customise items like tote bags or clothing, using accessible techniques and materials provided on the day.

Beyond the creative process, the workshop fosters:

  • Self-expression and identity development, allowing teens to showcase personal style
  • Mindfulness and focus, through immersive, hands-on making
  • Social connection, working alongside peers in a relaxed environment
  • Confidence and independence, as participants make their own design decisions

As part of Youth Week, the event also highlights the importance of youth voice, creativity, and community participation, giving young people a space to engage, connect, and express themselves meaningfully.

By the end of the session, participants will leave with a custom tie-dyed creation and a deeper appreciation for creative processes, individuality, and artistic experimentation.
