Welcome to the Book Bunting Bonanza, a fun, creative celebration of stories, reading, and artistic expression!
This hands‑on workshop invites children to explore their favourite books and bring them to life through colourful book bunting creations. Children will be guided to design and decorate reusable bunting flags inspired by characters, themes, or illustrations from books they love. Using paper, fabric, markers, paints, shapes, and other craft materials, participants create a personalised decorative banner that celebrates their love of reading.
Book Bunting Bonanza is more than just crafts — it’s a literacy‑rich, imaginative experience that connects reading with expression. As children think about their favourite stories, they’ll be encouraged to:
- Reflect on characters, settings, and favourite moments from books
- Communicate ideas visually and verbally
- Engage in collaborative storytelling conversations
- Develop confidence through creative display of their ideas
The workshop fosters a joyful reading culture and highlights how books can inspire creativity, identity, and community connection. Participants leave with their very own bespoke bunting to hang at home, in the classroom, or on a bookshelf — a vibrant reminder of the stories that spark their imagination.
This event is for children aged 5–8. Children who are not within this age range will not be permitted into the event. Carers are welcome to join.
Photos and video may be taken during the event and shared across the library's and Council's communication channels (including but not limited to social media and eNewsletters). Please notify a staff member if you do not wish to be photographed or filmed.
