Surrounded by the sculptural legacy of Karl and Slawa Duldig, young participants will draw inspiration from the Studio's historic setting while learning the fundamentals of clay hand-building. Guided by sculptor-in-residence Stefan Damschke, children will shape, build and experiment in the sculpture garden workshop.

A 1.5 hour guided session

Suitable for ages 5-15

Foundational ceramic hand-building techniques

A sculpture to take home and naturally dry

Please note: Sculptures are designed to be taken home at the end of class to dry naturally. Firing is not included.

🧩 Knowledge & Understanding Gain awareness of the artistic legacy of Karl and Slawa Duldig, and draw creative inspiration from a historic art studio and sculpture garden setting Understand the basic properties of terracotta clay and how it responds to shaping and building Learn that hand-built clay pieces can be air-dried, and know that firing is an additional process not included in this session ✅ Practical & Technical Skills Master foundational ceramic hand-building techniques including shaping, joining, and constructing forms with guidance Develop fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, and tactile skills through working with clay and basic hand-building tools Experiment with different ways of building and structuring clay forms under professional instruction 🎨 Creative & Personal Development Exercise imagination and creative expression to design and make their own unique sculpture Build confidence in artistic decision-making and hands-on making Experience a supportive, collaborative creative environment led by an experienced artist Complete a finished sculpture to take home, fostering a sense of achievement and pride in their work
